Description: Dominion Virginia Power requested the help of The L.E. Myers Co. to inspect and ensure that all conductor suspension clamp connections along the newly rebuilt 39-mile Lexington-Dooms line, which runs through the Shenandoah Valley, were properly tightened prior to energizing the line. The 500kV/230kV underbuild configuration had six conductor connections to examine per structure, which ranged from 150 to 170 feet fall. A helicopter company deployed line workers on the conductors from a long line. The time-sensitive project was safely executed and resulted in successful energization of the Lexington-Dooms line before the end of 2016.
