For the Central East Energy Connect, which spans 93 miles of an existing utility-owned transmission line, L.E. Myers crews reconductored 230kV and 345kV transmission lines on existing structures and removed 230kV transmission lines on H-frame structures, replacing them with 345kV steel monopole structures in single- and double-circuit configurations. The project was designed to relieve a bottleneck in the New York state power grid, improving system reliability, increasing efficiency, and enhancing statewide accessibility to renewable energy.
Under the contract, valued at more than $250 million, MYR Energy provided project and construction management, material procurement, and construction services, including right-of-way clearing, environmental controls, foundation installation, structure assembly and erection, and conductor stringing.
