Sturgeon Electric Company, Inc. (Sturgeon Electric) helped take UCHealth Longs Peak Hospital from 53 patient beds to 91 in this 25-phase project. Their scope of work included powering a new three-story tower, a three-story courtyard expansion connecting the hospital to the Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC), and a new elevated helideck with an elevator and equipment penthouse. Electrical work supported the expansion of the central utility plant, as well as extensive interior renovations and additions, including 10 new intensive care unit (ICU) rooms, a 7-room emergency department patient suite, two new operating rooms, a new C-section operating room, three new labor and delivery rooms, and expanded kitchen, post-anesthesia care unit, sterile processing department (SPD), and pharmacy space upgrades. Sturgeon Electric also completed the relocation of the clinical lab and installed critical backup power infrastructure, including a new generator, ATS, and emergency switchgear. To ensure uninterrupted hospital operations, the team meticulously coordinated a major overnight shutdown of normal power, providing temporary lighting and power systems throughout the process.
