The 272 MW/DC Garland Solar Project contains 870,000 polycrystalline photovoltaic (PV) solar modules mounted on single-axis tracking tables that deliver power to Southern California Edison (SCE) under a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA).
CSI Electrical Contractors, Inc. collaborated with Signal Energy to tackle the project’s aggressive build schedule, which required installing and testing a 34.5 kV medium-voltage system. Crews used overhead poles and underground trench installation methods to distribute the collection system throughout the 2,000-acre site.
During construction, the Garland Solar Project created more than 550 construction jobs in the surrounding communities, including jobs for Local 428.
