As a design-assist contractor, E.S. Boulos teamed with Consigli Construction to build the 350,000 square-foot Harold Alfond Athletics and Recreation Center. E.S. Boulos crews were responsible for the electrical distribution and generator systems, lighting and controls, and the fire alarm, security, and complete teledata systems. The team used the latest building modeling information (BIM) 3D modeling software on each feature to improve production and minimize changes and field coordination.
Completed in 2020, the LEED Gold-certified center reflects environmentally sound design for the site and building, including a compact footprint, renewable energy systems, and an ecosystem-sensitive landscape with native plantings and wetland conservation.
Additionally, E.S. Boulos played a key role on and off campus. To revitalize historic downtown Waterville, Colby College worked with the city and other partners to transform a four-block section of Main Street into a destination for visitors, residents, and new businesses. E.S. Boulos crews worked on a signature piece of the master plan: the new, 100,000-square-foot Bill and Joan Alfond Main Street Commons. The facility features retail and public meeting space on the first floor and houses 200 students on the upper floors. The LEED Silver-certified project was completed in 2018.
